COPELAND Borough Council is searching for the borough’s sporting heroes.

Coming hot on the heels of Copeland-born Alan Wills representing Team GB at the Olympic Games the Mayor of Copeland, Coun Keith Hitchen, is launching a search for Copeland’s sporting talent.

Coun Hitchen said: “During my time as mayor I have been incredibly lucky to meet a number of sporting heroes in the borough.

“I want to recognise and reward this success, but in doing this, I want to ensure that all of the borough’s sports stars, coaches and teams are recognised.”

Nominations should be sent to communications@ copeland.gov.uk, or Communications, Copeland Borough Council, The Copeland Centre, Catherine Street, Whitehaven, CA28 7SJ, or call 01946 598504.

The deadline is September 30.
