Keswick WC 3rds 1
Manchester Trinity 2
A lethargic display saw Keswick West Cumbria fall to a 2-1 defeat despite having lengthy spells of possession when they hosted Manchester Trinity in this division 10N game.
Keswick struggled to really get going and never showed the pace nor eye for goal which they had so much in the past couple of matches.
Manchester scored first but it was well into the second half before Keswick equalised through Gavin Moore.
But Keswick’s celebrations were short-lived as the visitors soon took the lead again at a penalty corner.
KWC Development 3
Kirkby Lonsdale 3
The last time these two sides met in September Keswick’s young development team was given an absolute hiding, with the scoreline virtually unprintable.
But they were in no mood to let the same happen again. Non-playing captain Paul Scougal – out through knee surgery – rotated his side bringing in several more experienced youngsters and a couple of older, wiser heads.
Keswick’s Joe Broomfield opened the scoring but they then committed too many people forward and allowed Kirkby to equalise before the break.
After the re-start Kirkby scored first and then Dan Pyke equalised. The visitors again took the lead but Keswick were not to be denied and James Wheeler got their third.
Ulverston 1
KWC Development 3
Keswick’s Development team returned to winning ways with a hard-fought victory over a much-improved Ulverston.
Keswick went into the game feeling confident, having beaten their opposition at home earlier in the season. This confidence didn’t last long, however, with Keswick going a goal behind within the first few minutes.
Dan Pyke levelled the scores before the break but after the restart Keswick had to defend numerous Ulverston attacks.
Keswick attacked well on the counter and were able to clinch the game with two goals from Luke Heap.
Prescott 3rds 3
Keswick WC 3rds 1
KWC went into this game knowing it was one they should get something out of. However once the game got started, they realised it was not going to be an easy match.
The opening stages were dominated by Prescott and they had opened up a 2-0 gap by half-time.
The second half was a lot brighter for KWC. Steve Hemm, playing in a central midfield role, looked very comfortable and was weaving past player after player and along with James Rush managed to get the ball up the pitch time and time again.
With Ryan Booth drafted in to the squad at right back, the ball went up the right wing with Booth linking well with Ben Hodgeson.
It wasn’t long into the half when Keswick got a goal back. It came from a short corner. After a poor injection, the ball came to James Rush, whose shot was poorly blocked by a Prescott defender. The ball came to Rob Morris on the front post and all Morris had to do was sweep it home.
This looked to be the start of a Keswick revival, but with Keswick pushing up, they were caught on the break and Prescott grabbed a third.
