POLICE seized 56 cannabis plants worth more than £7,000 in West Cumbria last week.
They arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of producing cannabis, a controlled drug, with intent to supply.
Ten officers raided a house in Great Clifton as part of Ditch the Dealer, an operation which encourages people to give police information about the supply of drugs.
Community Sergeant Mark Wear said: “This was a significant seizure of cannabis. It is one of the biggest we have had for the area.”
Local PC Vanessa Jackson said she would encourage people to report any suspicious activity as it could relate to drugs activity, as in this case.
The operation involved four other search warrants being carried out since last week.
A woman was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of controlled drugs after police seized class A and C drugs at a flat on Glenn Road, Moorclose, Workington, last Thursday afternoon.
Police recovered cannabis, amphetamine and possibly heroin.
Seven people were arrested at properties in Grasmere Avenue, Topaz Avenue and Beverley Close, Workington, after finding evidence of heroin, amphetamine and cannabis.
One was charged with possession of a controlled drug. The other six were bailed to return to Workington police station at a later date.
