Slaughtered animals are found in a Flimby field

THE RSPCA is investigating the slaughter of more than 40 dead animals which have been dumped in a field near Maryport.
RSPCA investigators visited the site at Camper Lonning, Flimby Brow, on Wednesday to try to discover how the animals – including rabbits, geese, pheasants and stoats – were killed.
The dead animals had been scattered across a wide area.
Some were piled on top of each other while others were scattered across the field.
A farmworker who discovered the bodies said: “I have never seen anything like this before.
“I can’t believe that someone would do something like this.
“It doesn’t look like they have been killed on site. It almost looks as if they have been killed, then frozen and then dumped here.”
Early reports suggested that all the animals had been shot.
The find was reported at 7.40pm on Tuesday and the animals are believed to have been dumped there some time in the two days before that.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumbria police on 0845 3300247.
