Maryport school makes a TV bid for ‘millions’

PEOPLE are being asked to help Maryport’s Ewanrigg Junior School make a wish come true.

In an all-child presentation on Monday night, the school will appear on Tyne Tees Border’s Lookaround to present its case to win the Big Lottery Fund’s People’s Millions.

The £50,000 would be used to build an adventure playground at the school, which headteacher Yvonne Craig said was desperately needed.

She said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am asking everyone in the Maryport area to support us in our venture to provide a safe and exciting play area for our pupils, for holiday scheme members, for Barnardo’s and for our adult education creche.

“Ewanrigg Junior School is 40 years old this year and we are planning to have a ‘Ruby Do!’ to celebrate.

“Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could simultaneously have a grand opening for our Ewanrigg Adventure Experience Playground?”

The number to call, to vote for Ewanrigg, will appear on the www.peoplesmillion.org. uk website from 9am on Monday.

It will also appear, from Monday morning, in the Daily Mirror and in fliers in local businesses as well as on CFM Radio.

Each person can vote 10 times from each telephone number that they have.
