RNAD purchase getting close

ALLERDALE council believes it is close to buying the RNAD arms depot at Broughton Moor.
The council’s Derwent Forest task group met in private yesterday. A statement issued afterwards said: “ The council is pleased with the progress and we anticipate an early acquisition of the site.”
A Ministry of Defence deadline for sale of the property expired on March 31 but negotiations are continuing.
Progress was halted by a probate court case over mineral rights on the land which are owned by the Lonsdale Settled Estates.
That case has to be decided before Allerdale council, with Cumbria county council, can buy the land.
