Surprise donation to Brownie group

PARTY gatecrashers are usually unwelcome but when Maryport Round Table chairman Alex Jenkins recently crashed in on the Maryport Brownies’ end-of-term party he was invited to join in the fun.

Alex surprised the Brownies with a £100 donation from the local Round Table to support the Brownies’ centenary appeal.

It happened as the Brownies were enjoying their traditional end-of-term party.

Alex said: “Maryport Round Table decided to provide some surprise support to our local Brownies as part of our recent batch of charity giveaways.”

Maryport Round Table donated £500 to local causes at their last meeting with Childline, Maryport Dolphins FC, Allerdale COSC, West Cumberland Hospital Henderson Suite and Help for Heroes all benefiting .

Alex added: “So far this year Maryport Round Table has been able to distribute over £1,000 into local and regional community projects.”
