A WALKER died and another was injured in a day of tragedy in Borrowdale on Sunday.
The man who died had collapsed while climbing at Sour Milk Ghyll, near Seathwaite. He was in his 50s and from Halifax.
But as mountain rescuers climbed to deal with that emergency they spotted that another walker, from Annan, had fallen 30 feet nearby. He was treated for his injuries before being carried down the hillside and airlifted to the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.
Twenty-five members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team attended, assisted by Search Dog handlers from SARDA (Lakes) who were training in the area.
