TEN-YEAR-OLD Courtney Birkett has produced this year’s Christmas card for the mayor of Workington.
Courtney is a Year 6 pupil at Victoria Junior School, and her artwork was chosen by mayor Bill Bacon to be on the front of his card.
Packaging firm Alcan has also ordered 100 cards to be sent out as its official company card.
Mark Suitor, managing director for Alcan, said: “The card is brilliant and we will be proudly sending it to our customers and friends.”
Coun Bacon said he had seen many good pieces of artwork but added: “The card is fantastic. It has saved me from looking through catalogues to pick one.”
Courtney received a case of coloured pencils from the Derwent Pencil Factory, Lillyhall, who sponsored the winning design.
And that was not the end of the surprises, as Courtney will help Coun Bacon to switch on Workington’s Christmas lights this Sunday.
