DISTINGTON police officer Adrian Braniff was this week named Cumbrian Community Police Officer of the Year 2008 at an awards ceremony in Penrith.
PC Braniff was thanked by Cumbria Chief Constable Craig Mackey for his contribution to community policing in the village, where he had built an excellent relationship with the community.
Inspector Dave Gartland, who manages neighbourhood policing teams, said: “Over the past three years, Adrian has demonstrated a level of enthusiasm, commitment and dedication beyond the call of duty.”
Earlier this month PC Braniff came second in the national Community Officer of the Year Awards, held by Jane’s Police Review in London, for his dedication to tackling anti-social behaviour.
Also commended was Workington officer PC Arthur Carter (pictured), for his professional and motivated attitude to his role, and DC Geoffrey Gardner, of West Cumbria CID.
