Town Navy Club bids for longer opening hours

MARYPORT Navy Club has re-applied for a licence to extend its opening hours.
Originally lodged in April 2007, the Navy Club on South Quay has applied for changes to its entertainment licence.
The club wants to be allowed to play live music and allow for dancing during opening hours.
At a previous meeting, Allerdale council’s licensing panel stated that CCTV must be added to the property before any go ahead, but a planning application for this to the council was rejected because it is a listed building.
Members will be asked on Monday to reconsider this proposal.
Residents will attend the meeting, concerned about potential noise caused by extending the clubs opening times.
An Environmental Health unit spokesman said in a letter to Allerdale that the club should be able to control the level of noise by fitting an automatic device capable of switching off equipment once it reaches a certain level.
The letter also said that all external doors and windows should be kept closed when entertainment was being provided except in the event of an emergency.
