THIS is a plea for more consideration of other people. I suspect it will fall on the deaf ears of the female van driver who was delivering a parcel to Sedgwick's the vets in Cockermouth last Wednesday.

I was pushing my granddaughter in her push-chair past Limelighting when a van swept round from Victoria Road straight on to the pavement in front of me, leaving no way past either side except via the busy road.

When I pointed this out to her she merely shrugged her shoulders, indicating it wasn't her problem, and disappeared inside the vets.

As far as I am aware, there is no provision for parking outside Sedgwick's, and I seem to be under the mistaken belief that pavements are for people.

To this person I would say that one day she will undoubtedly need and value someone else's consideration for her; it would be nice if she too could find time in her busy day to do likewise.
