No cup joy for Seaton

SEATON were unable to match Kells in the SJR Builders Cumberland Cup final at Maryport last Friday.

Seaton never recovered from an indifferent start in which Kells opened a 12-0 lead with tries from Steven Kirkbride and Kevin Agnew, both improved by Ryan Robb.

Substitute Adam McGlasson did give Seaton some hope when he forced his way over Kells’ line just before the break and Duncan Moyle added the extras.

But it was one way traffic after the break.

Kells prop Paul Cullnean crashed through 10 minutes after the restart, and success was assured when full-back Ashley McDonald and Cullnean added touchdowns in the final quarter, Robb completing a 100 per cent record with the boot.

Seaton had some consolation with the announcement of young scrum-half Callum Phillips as the Gordon Robb Memorial man of the match.
