PORTLAND have completed a splendid four-timer in the Workington Sunday League.

FOUR-TIMERS: The Grand Slam winning Portland side with their four trophies

They became only the third team to win all four of the trophies available to them - following the success in previous years of Distington and Westfield.

And it was a remarkable achievement for Portland player Tony Wedgewood, playing in his last season.

For he was also in the Distington and Westfield sides when they won all four competitions.

The Grand Slam was completed in runaway fashion as Portland lifted the President’s Cup, beating Moorclose 11-0.

After the first 10 minutes Portland dominated and goalkeeper Graham Caton junior didn’t have a shot to save.

Portland had already won the Sunday League Cup, the premier title and the big one, the Sunday County Cup.

Against division one Moorclose, Portland ran riot with Kevin Connolly (4), Kevin Holliday (3), David Dustin (2) and Gary Hodgson (2) scoring.
