Grasslot’s first defeat

OVER 35 division one leaders Grasslot lost their unbeaten record at Carlisle City when they were beaten 4-2.

Frizington moved into contention at the top with tight 4-3 victory over The Bush.

For Cockermouth brothers Terry and Billy Beech each scored a goal and Gavin Askew added a third. However Frizington’s Adrian Banks and John Fowler scored two each.

Carlisle Zimmer's recorded their first win with a 3-1 defeat of Netherhall. Brian Black, Dave Devlin and Darren Noctor were on the Carlisle team’s score sheet while Bobby Burton scored a late consolation goal for Netherhall.

In division two a strong and improving Penrith team moved to the top with a hard fought 4-0 victory over bottom club Frostoms.

The Workington side held Penrith 0-0 at half-time but in the second half good Penrith pressure told and Ian Fleming broke the deadlock on 55 minutes and Dougie Stokes added a second five minutes later.

Frostoms then exerted some pressure and were unlucky to go three down when referee Kevin Scott awarded a debatable penalty and then Graham Higgins had a shot take a massive deflection to make it 4-0.

Last week’s league leaders Whitehaven could only manage a draw with Moresby. Eddie Holiday twice gave Whitehaven the lead only for Chris Haile and Steve Foley to equalise.

Hall Park took the lead after 30 minutes in their game against the Howard's Rangers at Siddick but on the stroke of half-time Tom Kirkpatrick restored parity for the Carlisle team.

David Glasson then put the Workington team back into lead but goals from Paul Brechin and Graham Hewitson ensured all three points went to the Howard's.
