A NEW and more challenging skills course greeted the division three and division four riders Lakeland Sprinters as part of the progressive programme for developing bike confidence and skills.
All rose to the new challenges before testing themselves against the clock in the 500m time trial held on the Rowrah track.
In division four, Lucy Hewitt again stormed round the course to set the fastest time at two minutes 25 seconds.
Close on her heels were Jack McDonagh (2.31), Ben Frankland (2.37 pb), Olivia Fearon (3.30) and Harry Lamb (3.43 pb). Molly Rankin, in her first time trial, came home in 4.05 closely followed by Joshua Hewitt (4.09 pb), Becky Tichford (4.13 pb) and Ruth Atkinson (6.51).
For the division three riders, also on the 500m course, Sean Aspinall took the fastest time with 1.44 for a pb, just one second ahead of equal second Heather Thomas (1.45 pb) and Scott Glaister (1.45), and Charlie Frankland (1.46).
Next rider in was Matthew Last (2.00), just ahead of Ruth Jennings (2.04) and Matthew Atkinson (2.25).
Jacob Critchley led the four division two riders - competing on the full 1km course - completing in 2.46 a pb.
Robert Atkinson also had a pb with his time of 3.01, as did Phillip Jennings (3.17). Daniel Rooney took fourth place with a good solid ride in 3.30.
First-timer Jordon Peck from Keswick had the fastest time in the division one squad. He took just 2.13 to cover the kilometre course, with Daniel Baron, recovered from his crash the week before, taking second with 2.20 (pb). Third was Alex Hargreaves (2.29), just ahead of Jason Jenkinson (2.31 pb). Fastest girl was Alice Rae, with a new pb of 2.33. She shared this time with William Hughes, only one second slower than his pb.
Patrick Cowman was next at 2.34 whilst George Bennett finished in 2.37 (pb). Sam Heyworth led the next group of riders in 2.41, ahead of Thomas Lennox (2.46, equalling his current pb) and Callum Horspool (2.48) with Ailsa Cowen (second girl, 2.49, pb), Stephen Gascoigne (2.53) and Kristian Cook (2.59).
In the team pursuit relay over seven laps (3.5km), Thomas Lennox’s team - Ailsa Cowen, Alex Hargreaves, Alice Rae, Daniel Baron, Sam Heyworth and William Hughes - finished in 8.57 to beat Callum Horspool’s team - George Bennett, Jason Jenkinson, Kristian Cook, Patrick Cowman, Stephen Gascoigne and Jordon Peck- who clocked 9.09.
Winner of the devil was Jordon Peck, beating Barnaby Angus-Southall, Daniel Baron and George Bennett. In the kierin, Jordon and Daniel took first and second with Alex Hargreaves third.
