Weather at last favours time trialers

FOR the last Tuesday night 25-mile time trial in the Velo Club Cumbria season the weather at least gave riders a chance to go fast from Cockermouth to Keswick and back.

Maintaining his points lead Brian Payton,VCC, was the fastest in 54 minutes 36 seconds, with clubmate Mark Amor,VCC, second in 55.56.

Geoff Ayers raced to his best time this year finishing third in 56.22 and first O40 just ahead of Dave Robinson who knocked two minutes off his pb of 56.37.

Junior 25 champion Richard Houghton, KMB/VCC, also was a minute faster with a 58.16 pb.

Visitor Stephen Kirkbride from BCW was sixth in 1.00.17 just beating Mark Wells in seventh with 1.00.32 and followed closely by Sean Hoban,VCC, 1.00.52 eighth.

Kevin Wiltshire was ninth in 1.1.36 with newcomer Craig Dring 1.3.11, 10th.

Wendy Thomas was the winner of the ladies’ race in 1.17.37.
