A STRENGTHENING breeze made for tough riding for 14 hardy young Lakeland Sprinters at their Wednesday evening meet at Rowrah Karting Stadium.
Only Matthew Last was able to find the speed to get a personal best, taking five seconds off his previous, to record three minutes 20 seconds for the 1km time trial, while new rider Alex Bewley made a great start in division four with a 500m time trial time of 2.45.
For the division two, three and four riders, in addition to the 1km time trail, there were a variety of coaching activities designed to improve climbing, descending and braking skills.
For the division one riders, Gerry McCarten, the club president, led a coaching session on different climbing techniques before leading the riders off in the Kierin and chasing their tails in the Devil take the Hindmost race.
