Powe takes 10-mile test

THE LAST of the Keswick 10-mile time trials this season was won by Adam Powe, Velo Club Cumbria, in 21 minutes 32 seconds.

Rob Hargreaves, Team Swift, chased hard but finished second in 21.48 with Mark Amor, VCC, just back from the Tour de France, taking third place in 21.52.

Almost two minutes elapsed from the first three before another four riders got under the 25mph barrier with Mark Wells, VCC, fou-rth in 23.45, Sean Hob-an, VCC, fifth, Andrew Henderson, VCC, sixth in 23.55, and Julian Cook seventh in 23.58.

Nick Jones, WCF, was eighth in 25.11 followed by visitor Martin King, BCW, with 25.24.

Heather Greening, of KMB, had a brilliant ride to take the first ladies’ prize in 25.57 and 10th overall.
