Excellent golf on Cockermouth’s finals day

FINALS day at Cockermouth Golf Club produced some excellent golf and some close matches.
In the scratch matchplay, Richard Scott beat Mark Richardson two and one.
The captain’s prize was won by Liam Skillen with a three and two win over Russell Skillen.
James Fisher won the President’s Cup, one up over Trevor Pearson.
In the junior matchplay Mathew Wilkinson won two up against Fraser Goldie.
The captain’s fourball knockout was won by Jim Beattie and Ronnie Walker, five and four over Sebastian and Jonathan Nixon.
The ladies’ A&D greensomes was won by the lady captain Anne Donohoe and Jane McGuire beating Julie Barcock and Joan Gould five and four.
In the Herbert Jackson Trophy, Phillip Risino finished one up over Jim Beattie.
The men’s foursomes was won by Richard Wimpress and Mark Richardson, one up against Barry Denham and David Bragg.
In the club mixed foursomes the winners were Joanna Hadfield and Paul Newton, two up over Joan Gould and Mike Reid.
In the ladies’ snaith matchplay Christine Brown won three and two against Dorothy Pritchett.
The ladies’ rosebowl foursomes was won by Jane McGuire and Elsie Huddart, four and two, against Pat Wimpress and Ann Parker.
In the Skylarks knockout trophy Peter Allan won one up over Chris Brook.
The veterans’ trophy was won by Peter Inglis with a score of 81-68 nett and the runner-up was Des McNicholl (86-69).
John Moyes had the only Two, at the ninth, winning eight balls.
