DERWENT Valley Federation fanciers were back at Flookburgh on Saturday for their second young bird race.

This time the youngsters got away well without any hawk attack and returns to the majority of lofts were very good.

The conditions at the race-point weren’t good in the morning and the birds were rightly held until 2.30pm.

The birds were liberated in a west north west wind and covered the 40-odd mile trip in under 70 minutes.
