FOUR of the youngest members of the Combat Jujitsu Academy have gained their junior black belts.
Adam Brough and Luke Wilkinson, both 12, Declan McDonald, 13, and Alex Tibbitts, 14, travelled to Leek, Staffordshire for the grading.
They came under the watchful eyes of the panel which included Gene Mealy 7th Dan, John Barany 3rd Dan and Nicky Barany 2nd Dan.
The four all performed extremely well at a very high standard and deserved their black belts.
Jujitsu is the most comprehensive of all the martial arts and includes all the disciplines.
The students are tested on all the skills including kicks, punches, throws, ground fighting and traditional weapons.
They all ensured that they were prepared for the grading with additional training sessions and commitment to their chosen sport.
Head of the grading panel Sensie Gene Mealy said: “Considering that this was a junior black belt grading I’m impressed by their knowledge and level of fitness.
He said the Cockermouth-based club should be proud of its students.
