Students earn their black belts

FOUR members of Workington’s Hokushinko Mixed Martial Arts Academy have obtained their black belt 1st Dan grading.
The quartet were juniors Luke Irving, Sonny Smith and Andrew Irving plus adult member David Christian.
The club recently held its annual presentation night in Workington British Legion Club.
The Michelle Hamilton Award, presented to the best student as voted by fellow student, went to Aaron Ross.
Ross also took the most improved award in the black belt category, which was won by Peter Fallows.
Seaton club: best student, Christian Novak; most improved Luke Irving.
Workington club - U11: best, Jos Taylor; most improved, Thomas Osborn. Junior: best, Keilan Lord; most improved, Luke Scott. Advanced: best, Tom Irving; most improved, Katie Olaman.
Hokushinko’s Johny Kemp won his fight at the Battleground, Middlesbrough, defeating Redcar’s Dan Busitil in one minute 52 seconds.
