AFTER heavy rain in the morning which affected the heats, Cumbria Karting’s latest meeting at the Rowrah Circuit was able to stage all the finals on a dry track in the afternoon.
In the Cadet final Nathan Aston started on pole but after the first lap had been taken by local girl Abbie Carruthers.
Carruthers managed to maintain this position throughout the race despite being closely pursued throughout by Chad Little who started sixth.
Aston managed to finish fourth just behind local lad Jack Greggain who had come through from 12th.
Sophie Kenmare who had an excellent second heat, managing to take second, took the novice trophy.
With 30 on the grid in the Junior Rotax final, Luke Haynes started third but during the first lap had dropped down to seventh.
By the fifth lap however he had regained his position and on the eighth lap he took the lead, and the trophy, from Josh Webster.
Webster was followed nearly three seconds later by Daniel Tate who started in second. Scott Atkinson took fourth place after having a disappointing first two heats and starting from ninth on the grid.
In Mini Max Corby Gormley started on pole and led every lap to win by a massive 14 seconds from Max Coates.
Coates started fourth and was third by the end of the first lap. He then battled it out for the rest of the race for second with Jordan Houghton.
Coates managed to take this on the last lap and finish by the narrowest of margins to Houghton.
After winning every Junior TKM final of the club championship this year Matthew Grierson, of Workington, has been beaten.
Grierson started second behind Aaron Mansergh and never quite managed to take first.
Sam Taylor started in seventh and managed to take third during the first lap and maintain this position to cross the line ahead of Jonathan Elliot.
In the Rotax final John Stewart started on pole and led every lap to win by two seconds ahead of Jamie Allison. Allison was followed by Karl Haxton who finished ahead of David Simpson.
