Rowrah Circuit roars at two-day bank holiday weekend karting special

NATHAN Aston led every lap of the Comer Cadet at Rowrah Circuit to finish four seconds ahead of Abbie Carruthers.

Carruthers had started in eighth and climbed to fifth by the end of the first lap.

She continued to climb up the field to finish second. She was followed over the line by Sterling Fortser who came ahead of Travis Kirk.

Joe Taylor led every lap of the Honda Cadet final to cross the line six seconds ahead of Scott Tate who started second. Marie Crowe took third after starting fifth on the grid.

Jonathan Davis led every lap of the Mini Max final to cross the line ahead of Daniel Purvis who started second.

Sam Clarence started fourth but by the end of the first lap was third and managed to maintain this position to finish ahead of Dominic Wheatley.

In the juniors final Sophie Lanc started on pole and led every lap of the race to beat Matthew Grierson across the line.

Grierson started 10th on the grid after being disqualified from the first heat. Aaron Mansergh started seventh and steadily worked his way up into third ahead of Lewis Raine.

Starting from pole, Jack Davis led every lap of the Junior Honda final to win by four seconds ahead of Damien Crowe. Samuel Coombes finished third six seconds ahead of Andre Benard.

In the Rotax final John Stewart started third and on the third lap took the lead from Karl Haxton who started in first.

Will Smith started fourth but managed to take second in front of Iain Mason. Haxton took fourth place closely followed by Michael Taylor.

In the Junior Rotax final Joe Mckeand started fourth and on the second lap took the lead from Josh Webster.

Webster started seventh but took the lead earlier in the second lap. He managed to stay behind Mckeand in second for the rest of the race. He was followed over the line by Jay Taylor.

In the Hondas final Grant Murray started on pole but dropped into second on the first lap behind Trevor George.

On lap seven Murray regained his position and managed to maintain it until the end of the race.

George finished second 22 seconds in front of David Murray. Lucy Durrant started 12th but managed to finish fourth ahead of Lee Freestone.

In the Biland final James Hammond started on pole and led every lap to finish ahead of Luke Williams. Malcolm Brown took third closely followed by Ben Bertolini.

On Monday in the Comer Cadet final Stuart Middleton started in third and after taking second from Abbie Carruthers on lap three, he then took the lead three laps later from Chad Little.

Little took second ahead of Carruthers, who finished in front of Nathan Aston who had started on pole.

In the Honda Cadet final Joe Taylor started on pole and managed to take first but not without some competition from Scott Tate.

Tate managed to take second, a full 37 seconds ahead of Liam Kirkpatrick. Jack Frank Corlett took fourth in front of Marie Crowe.

In the Junior Rotax final starting from pole Joe Reilly led every lap of the race to win ahead of Joe Mckeand.

Mckeand started seventh and had climbed to third at the end of the first lap. He managed to cross the line second in front of Daniel Tate. Josh Webster started ninth and finished in fourth ahead of Liam Morley.

Jack Davis led every lap of the Junior Honda final to win by a massive 14 seconds ahead of Samuel Coombes. Damien Crowe started in third and maintained this position throughout the race to finish in front of Andre Benard.

In the Rotax final Jamie Allison started second but led every lap of the race to finsh ahead of Karl Haxton who started on pole. Andrew Harvie took third ahead of John Stewart who started third but at the end of the first lap had dropped to eighth.

In the Juniors final Aaron Mansergh started third but on the second lap took the lead from Matthew Grierson to finish ahead of Lewis Raine.

Grierson started sixth and took the lead on the first lap but unfortunately was overtaken by Mansergh and Raine. Lisa Playfair started 11th and managed to take fourth just in front of Oliver Raine.

In the Mini Max final Sam Clarence started on pole and led every lap of the race to finish ahead of James Singleton who started in second. Scott Mackrell started and finished in third just ahead of Tom Baker.

In the Honda final Trevor George started fifth but climbed up into first throughout the race. Grant Murray took second in front of Michael Davis who worked his way up from 10th. Lee Taylor took fourth, followed by Lee Freestone.

In the Biland final Ben Dickson started in second but by the end of the second lap had dropped to fourth behind Luke Williams.

Dickson then moved into third in front of James Hammond and then into second. On lap six he took the lead from Ian Blackwood. Blackwood stayed in second, followed by Hammond.

The competitors were also racing for the Lakeland Challenge Trophy. This went to the person with the highest number of points accumulated over the two days of racing.

The winners of this were, in Comer Cadet Nathan Aston, in Honda Cadet Joe Taylor, in WTP Cadet Ben Barnicoat, in Junior TKM Aaron Mansergh, in Mini Max Sam Clarence, in Junior Max Joe Mckeand, in Rotax Max Karl Haxton, in Junior TKM 4 Stroke Dave Sutcliffe, in Honda Junior Jack Davis, in Honda Senior Grant Murray, in Honda Heavy David Murray, in Formula Biland James Hammond and in World Formula Brian Drummond.

Both days were also rounds of the Super2 ABKC championships with points from the two rounds going towards Super2 numbers.
