WORKINGTON Reds Reserves have taken over the top slot in the Lancit Haulage Lancashire League.
After two storming victories in which they scored 16 goals has put them six points ahead of Fleetwood.
The Reserves have four games left, two of which are against Fleetwood who have a game in hand.
If the Reserves do secure the title it will be the first time in their history and represent a huge turn-around in fortunes after some rather poor years in Lancashire League.
Last Wednesday they took on Barrow at Borough Park and won 5-0 with goals from Michael Reed, Dan Rayson, Tony Nicholson (2) and Andrew Hardman.
Then, last Friday, again at Borough Park they played Darwen and won 11-2.
Nicholson got two hat-tricks, one in each half, and other goals were scored by Danial Renyard, Alex Dicker and David Carmichael (3).
The Reserves’ remaining league games are Leigh at home on Friday next week (8pm ko), Fleetwood away on the 21st, Lancaster away on the 25th and Fleetwood at home which has still to be arranged.
The Reserves also take on Osset in the League Cup semi-finals and if they win then the final will be at Borough Park on May 3.
