The Cumberland League division two club recently had its entire away kit stolen.

The black-and-red strips had been worn only twice before thieves broke into a container at the grounds of White Star FC, where they were kept.

Five rugby balls and a first aid kit were also taken.

When Town learned of their loss, the NL2 outfit were quick to offer a helping hand, presenting Frizington with a dozen rugby balls and first aid equipment.

George Hunton, father of Frizington secretary Tracey Nicholson, is a long-standing Town fan who used to collect lottery cash for the club.

Town’s community manager Marnie Jackson said: “However, it is not just this link which has made us get involved.

“Since the recent fire at Derwent Park, in which we lost post protectors, corner flags, training equipment, memorabilia and merchandise, we understand what it’s like to lose essential equipment for the running of a rugby team.

“And as we received help in getting back up and running, we would like to do the same for Frizington.”
